ABOUT US
A little on who we are and what we are about.

HI, I'M DARREN
I'm the founder and Chief Executive of The Governance Clinic. I love working with other business professionals to tackle knotty problems and projects, helping make sense of complex issues through applying my experience and growing this by learning from others. I thrive on finding ways to get things done pragmatically, thoughtfully and efficiently.
By background, I'm an experienced corporate lawyer who spent the first 15 years of my career supporting companies with complex mergers, acquisitions and investments. Over the last decade I have specialised in corporate governance and reorganisations work, both in-house as Deputy Company Secretary at Rolls-Royce plc and, since 2019, through my own consultancy business partnering with listed and large private groups on their governance improvement projects.
As well as being a Solicitor (now non-practising), I am a qualified Chartered Governance Professional in Public Practice and a Fellow of the Chartered Governance Institute, so you can be confident in my professional credentials.
I really enjoy the variety and diversity of working with different clients across industry sectors, and particularly love those lightbulb moments when experience gained in one place translates into ideas and solutions elsewhere. That is why I wanted to create The Governance Clinic, so that those working in governance roles can reach beyond their own colleagues, organisation and industry sector, and tap into broader experience where helpful to get a different perspective.
When not working, I enjoy fitness, mountain-biking, trying to recreate the soundtrack of my youth on my guitar, and experiencing new places with my family and friends.
LET'S TALK

OUR PURPOSE, MISSION & VISION
Our purpose is to enable you and your organisation to Thrive Responsibly, through the application of good corporate governance.
Our mission at The Governance Clinic is to demystify governance by serving as a supportive place where you can find practical help, tools, training and access to the guidance of others who have probably experienced a similar issue before, outside of your own team.
We want to hear your governance issues, large or small, and suggest practical ways to make them easier for you.
By creating environments and opportunites to share knowledge and experience, our vision is to have nurtured a talented, engaged community that seeks out and promotes good governance practices. In turn, this will protect and increase value for organisations and their stakeholders.
